APM SPINE & SPORTS
I am very pleased to participate in this year’s dancing with the stars event. While I enjoy participating in a variety of sports, I am new to dancing. I have thoroughly enjoyed this whole process – from getting to know my instructor, Brent Dunn to selecting music, and learning the dance steps as well as creating my cool costume. The entire experience has been a blast! Prior to last year’s event I had never been on a stage. Needless to say, it was scary. DWS 2014 pushed me way out of my comfort zone. Setting a goal and reaching for something so new was truly exciting. So much so, that I had to check this “bucket list” item twice. Here’s to a great evening for everyone!!
As a Hampton Roads native I have always enjoyed all that our beautiful area has to offer. Professionally, I am the founder of APM Spine and Sports and a full time practicing physician who specializes in treating painful conditions that sideline people from living their lives to the fullest. As a Board Certified Physiatrist, I see people of all ages who suffer with pain due to muscle and joint issues. My job- to listen to my patient’s stories and then work with them to diagnose and treat their painful conditions. I then strive to help each patient become more aware of how their body works.
Recognized as the first Physician in Hampton Roads to embrace the use of biologic healing modalities such as PRP and autologous stem cells to treat musculoskeletal issues, I constantly strive to push the “holistic envelope”. I am also currently writing a book about how we can take healing to a new levels by expanding our understanding of the mind-body connection. I am ever so grateful to my colleagues who have frequently selected me as a recipient of the Coastal Living “ Top Doc” designation.
I am the very proud mother of Josh, a middle school teacher and Becca, a nurse. I do look forward to hearing the Barr cheering squad at the Sandler Center on Aug. 8 th and appreciate all of the support of my family, friends, co-workers and patients. I am especially grateful to my loving and inspiring partner and muse, Steve Suskin.
